West Coast Blues

The indisputable beauty of the central California coast, and Big Sur specifically, just doesn't get old. The first time we drove down highway 1, I was worried the real thing wouldn't live up to all the photos I'd seen - so very wrong. The second time, I wondered if it wouldn't strike me as deeply because we'd taken it all in before - again, very wrong. There's something about the pure, deep blues of the west coast that resonate somewhere within the soul, something quite pure and untouched.

Sorry, East Coast. There's just nothing you can do.

big sur, and things that live up to the hype

big sur is officially on my list of things that live up to all the hype (followed closely by eggs benedict, gingerbread lattes, Harry Potter, and the pacific northwest in general). driving down that pristine coastline after months of stalking instagram for photos, oohing and awwing over the blues and greys clashing, was exactly perfect. getting to McWay Falls right at golden hour? hands-down the best way to finish a week of exploring. our only regret is not actually camping in the area, as we passed several perfect little campgrounds on the bluffs. Good thing we have a whole lot of exploring left in us.
