indy city

Turns out the bohemian goddess that is Angela can also rock an all-black, five panel hat look. Go figure. We wandered around LA & snapped a few photos in this beautiful Indy Brand hat, and I finally got to see the Bates Motel all-white-everythang hotel + palm tree installation. This city is so weird.

I deeply miss the greens of the northwest, but damn, I love the colors of Los Angeles.

Coffee with the Giants

We only had about an hour to stop at The Avenue of the Giants this trip, but made the most of our time with a coffee break and a stroll under the magnificent Redwoods. Looking back at these is making me feel a little stir-crazy, as we haven't really taken any trips since we got back from this one & I'm feeling slightly claustrophobic here in LA. It's time to plan a weekend trip - Salton Sea is up next! Where are you going next?

Rails in the sky

Evan has a special knack for choosing the best random turns to take while roadtripping. After a night of camping on the Oregon coast in a torrential downpour, a night in which we discovered that our tent's weather-proof guarantee was not very true at all, we were soggy, hungry, and a little bit grumpy on our way to Portland when he took a random turn off the freeway and we ended up on this abandoned railroad above the road. Ferns grew through the wood & steel and it curved into the fog, disappearing beyond us into the green. After a rough night and morning, it was a spontaneous reminder of why we drive up and down the coast, why we sleep on the ground and skip showers: to see new things with new eyes. Besides, a little rain never hurt anybody.

indy adventures

We partnered with our favorite Utah couple and Indy Brand Clothing again to show off their winter line, and I have to say, their pieces get better every season. My favorite has to be this 'people of the mountains' tee...I know it's a bit strange to rep a shirt with a state I've never been to on it, but I can't help but love the mountains theme. Besides, it's on our list of places to visit this year. I also love this climber crew neck on Evan, and the black beanie that we've been stealing back & forth from each other. Their clothing is ultra soft and perfect for a snowy adventure. It's also perfect for layering, which was very much necessary on this mountain afternoon. Check out the indy instagram for more photos of people from all over adventuring in their threads!

do the boogie all night long

A little video I put together, from Portland to LA. Such a fun way to relive these memories.

p.s. switch it to 1080 HD for the good stuff.

two years coasting // lost coast

driving to the lost coast was one of the most surreal parts of our trip down the coast. we'd left the northern redwoods that morning, not completely sure of our route, with just our campground on the ocean in mind. in true roadtrip fashion, we discovered halfway through that it would be an extra two hours of driving than I'd originally calculated, meaning we'd get to our campsite at dark. being the worrier I am, I promptly began to fret. BUT. also in true roadtrip fashion, the drive there became the best part and we hit the stunning green hills that preface the lost coast at the most amazing golden hour we'd ever seen.  the dark storm clouds clashed with the silky gold sunlight in the most gorgeous way, and we pulled off the curvy country road over, and  over again. the timing was impeccable, even finally coming out of the hills to blue ocean right at sunset. us silly humans and our schedules, we're no match for the beauty of the earth.
