louder than the silence

I'm so proud to be part of a generation that is so readily giving back when it comes to business. Young people using their skills, knowledge, creativity and time to not only make things, but to be responsible and compassionate to a hurting world when it comes to their profits. So many companies built by millennials (though the word makes me cringe) are working this into their business models, and I'm all about supporting these kinds of people however possible.

We met the people behind dprture just a few weeks after moving to LA, and it's been an honor to work with them as they create unique pieces that both represent and fight against issues like human trafficking, clean water, children in need, and more. Check out their website to learn more, and let's support these kinds of business whenever we can!

DTLA + angela

When VSCO releases a free starter pack the same day you have a photo venture planned with your cute friend...you know it's meant to be. The editing on these is a little bit all over the place, since I was playing around & choosing my favorite settings, but it made the process that much more fun!

Also, the people over at VSCO are genius, because now that I've played with these, I want to buy more packs even more than I already did. And with two big adventure coming up in a few weeks, I may just have to.

golden hour boho // los angeles portraits

One of the best parts about moving to LA is the chance to work & collaborate with Angela again. We have such similar aesthetics and backgrounds that it's just easy. When we get together, ideas just spill out all over the place and we already have a long list of projects to do together--starting with a few portraits that I've been dying to take of her. With her long gorgeous hair & perfectly bohemian style, she makes it easy.

Shooting & editing these made me so happy--I'm so eager to get more practice shooting and get some new faces in front of my camera. If you're in LA and would like to shoot, lets make it happen!

two years coasting // lost coast

driving to the lost coast was one of the most surreal parts of our trip down the coast. we'd left the northern redwoods that morning, not completely sure of our route, with just our campground on the ocean in mind. in true roadtrip fashion, we discovered halfway through that it would be an extra two hours of driving than I'd originally calculated, meaning we'd get to our campsite at dark. being the worrier I am, I promptly began to fret. BUT. also in true roadtrip fashion, the drive there became the best part and we hit the stunning green hills that preface the lost coast at the most amazing golden hour we'd ever seen.  the dark storm clouds clashed with the silky gold sunlight in the most gorgeous way, and we pulled off the curvy country road over, and  over again. the timing was impeccable, even finally coming out of the hills to blue ocean right at sunset. us silly humans and our schedules, we're no match for the beauty of the earth.
